The Sophia Project

OUR MISSION

Picture

Thanks, But No Thanks

Occasionally we get asked by frequent users of our site if there is any way they could help fund this project. Our answer is always the same: Thanks, but no thanks. As a matter of principle, we don't accept monetary contributions or donations. Instead, consider purchasing a text from our SophiaOmni Publishing site. You'll help us to further the non-profit mission of the Sophia Project and support the ever-growing network of young artists, writers, academics, proofreaders, and editors who are an essential part of our SophiaOmni community.
Why Use a Corporate Textbook?

When we first developed the Sophia Project the idea was to use the web as an additional resource for philosophy classes. It quickly became evident that the site could actually supplant the need to use corporate-published textbooks altogether. Imagine that: educational resources for use in philosophy classes available all the time on the web FOR FREE.  To get some idea about how you can break free of the stranglehold corporate publishing has over higher education, check out our extensive topics page.
Join Us in Our Work

Everything on this site is free and exists solely for the purpose of expanding the domain of human wisdom.  We'd like to make this the largest repository on the web of free educational resources in the fields of philosophy and ethics.  But to do that we need help.  If you'd like to contribute a text for our archives that would be helpful to students or have a provocative piece of writing that you'd like to see included on our blogs, let us know.   We also appreciate your feedback, so feel free to let us know what your think of our work and what kinds of resources you'd like to see on this site.
